In this controversial vulgarity of a movie, Dutch fun fanatics Flip van der Kuil and Steffen Haars deconstruct an iconic staple of American entertainment culture: the sitcom. Nick Frost, Alicia Silverstone, son and daughter play a deeply religious nuclear family who charm the audience with stale jokes, only to be incrementally debased by Russian workers—chain-smoking and flexible in their morals—and, like their house, completely destroyed in the end. Flip and Steffen’s full-frontal attack on the conservative corset of American values is less a well-meaning satire than a brutal blow, hemmed by a perverse amount of blasphemy.
